Apostille Korea said travel abroad by minors now requires a parental travel consent to be checked. Late last year a 15-year-old traveller was refused entry at a British airport after failing to present the document and having no guardian in the country. As travel with minors rises over school holidays, so do the problems caused by missing paperwork.

What the consent document contains
A parental travel consent is the form in which a parent agrees to a minor under 18 travelling abroad, taking a job or performing other legal acts. It states the travel period and purpose and carries the signature and seal of the consenting parent. The parent also assumes the duty to recall the minor as soon as the travel period ends, and responsibility for accidents during the trip. Countries request the document alongside a basic certificate and a Family Relationship Certificate in order to prevent child abduction, trafficking and abuse. When another guardian travels in place of the parents, or only one parent goes along, proof stating the absent guardian's authorisation and consent to the trip is required.
What to check before departure
