One Last Look at a BVI Certificate of Merger Before U.S. Submission
Subtitle
A real operations story from a global operations manager at an Atlanta-based semiconductor equipment company, moving a document from the British Virgin Islands to the U.S.
Introduction
"An hour with an expert cleared up more than the days I'd already spent stuck on it alone."

Earlier this year, an Atlanta-based semiconductor equipment company was conducting entity verification for an investment and contract tied to the British Virgin Islands. Final review turned up a requirement they hadn't planned for: the locally issued document needed an authenticated version for submission in the U.S.
The company's coordinator tried working through it alone, translating BVI guidance page by page. But the required format of the issued document, whether notarization had to come first, and which authority handled the apostille all needed to be sorted out separately — and even the difference between an original certificate of merger and a copy was explained inconsistently across sources, which brought the effort to a stop.
The real pressure wasn't cost — it was the timeline between the BVI and the U.S. Missing this submission window could push the signing date and the funding date into the next quarter. The coordinator was left simply waiting on a confirmation email.
Apostille Korea's team started by asking exactly when and in what format the document needed to reach the U.S. Working backward from that answer, they confirmed the issuing authority and signing authority, then laid out the required notarization and apostille sequence — sharing every update along the way.
On the agreed date, the U.S. side accepted the BVI-issued document without issue. Signing and due diligence moved to their next stage, and the client was able to restart preparations that had been on hold.
"Understanding why it was complicated is what put my mind at ease," the client said. At the end of a carefully managed BVI-to-U.S. process, the rest of the client's schedule found its footing too.
